What exactly is Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)?
Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-invasive hair loss solution that involves creating an illusion of hair follicles on the scalp. Many people think of SMP as a hair tattoo as it creates the impression of fuller hair by introducing tiny pigment deposits into the scalp using microneedles. The difference is that a tattoo is permanent, while SMP will last between 1-5 years, with some people up to 8 years. Our technicians are trained and certified in the USA and UK. Scalp micropigmentation requires exemplary skills and technique and understanding of our client's needs.

At Scalp MP Ink, we create a unique formula of pigment with shades and textures that fit the individual's skin and hair colour. Our skilled technicians have perfected their craft to make the result look as natural as the hair already on one's head.
How does SMP work?
SMP is performed by applying pigment microdots on your head with precise microneedles to replicate hair follicles. We use the latest technology in our procedures and the best organic pigments used in the industry. This is to create the most natural appearance to match the individual's hair type.

Our technicians are specially trained to make sure that people cannot tell that you've done something to your head, but they will notice that your hair is fuller and looks younger. We take into account a lot of factors such as the hair loss area, skin type, head shape and the hairstyle the client wants in order to determine how the procedure is performed.
Is SMP suitable for women?
Yes, SMP is suitable for women too! In fact, SMP is an increasingly popular method for women to combat hair loss and hair thinning.
Regardless of whether you have short or long hair, SMP can help to replicate the appearance of thicker hair with no scarring and virtually no recovery time.

As the procedure is not designed to replicate shaved hair, but instead to reduce contrast between the hair and bare scalp, the difference is visually less noticeable by others.
How long will it take?
The duration of treatment will depend on the size of the area that requires treatment and the desired result. A client usually requires a minimum of 2 sessions of cosmetic pigmentation, each lasting around 2-3 hours. For some people that require more density, a 3rd or 4th session may be needed.
Is SMP safe?
A consultation is required for the technician to assess whether you are suitable for the procedure. Factors such as medical conditions, skin type and preferences will be discussed among other matters during your session.
This consultation is also a great opportunity to learn everything you need to know about SMP, and whether it will be compatible with your lifestyle for the next few years. This is a big decision to make, and it is normal to have some doubts. For most people, the consultation is the best place to get all the answers and will greatly aid your decision.

Does SMP interfere with hair growth?
No, your hair will grow normally. Micropigmentation does not affect the hair follicles.
How long do results last?
It depends; there are a host of factors that vary with every individual. Skin type and lifestyle choices affect how long it will last, hence it's almost impossible to predict the exact length of time it will last. SMP results usually last from 1-7 years, and will naturally fade. Clients would look to have a touch up session to refresh their look around the 3rd to 5th year.
How much would it cost?
Our prices vary, subject to the area and density required for treatment. Estimated prices start from $800 to $5,000, and treatments can range anywhere in between. A consultation is needed for a more accurate quotation.
Can I exercise after my procedure?
It is highly recommended not to sweat within 10 days of the procedure being performed. Excessive sweating causes sweat glands to push the pigments out, resulting in your SMP look fading faster. After 10 days, you can resume exercise as per normal. Our package includes comprehensive aftercare instructions and unlimited post-treatment customer care for all clients.
Can I go outside under the sun/tanning?
We recommend avoiding tanning and sun exposure as UV rays lead to ink fading. After the recommended recovery time of 10 days, tanning can be done.
